The CQC said the “long-standing poor staff culture had created an ineffective team where doctors, midwives and other healthcare professionals did not support each other to provide good care”.
It said maternity services at the hospital remained “inadequate” overall.
Professor Ted Baker, the CQC’s chief inspector of hospitals, expressed disappointment that the staff culture was still affecting women’s care.
Lessons sadly not learnt.!
This is a hospital unfortunately I have had contact with on more than one occasion. We have successfully brought actions against the Trust due to the failures in care for new born babies. These are tragic cases from which there are no winners but at least we got a reassurance that lessons were learnt and things would change.
It is devastating to hear that the Maternity Unit remains “ inadequate” and is still failing to put in place the changes that are desperately needed to safeguard women and their babies .
Lip service is not enough for those women whose lives have been profoundly affected by the Trusts ineptitude.
The Trust has now agreed to report back to the CQC on a monthly basis , only time will tell if they truly can change and take responsibility .
